The mountains of the Dolomites are trumped only by the southern Andes of Argentina and Chile for their majesty and drama. We describe them as the Yosemite of Europe, as they are equally impressive and offer just as many photo opportunities.
We start our tour in the ancient water city of Venice where we’ll spend our first night. This will offer an opportunity for some classic Venetian shots before we head north on a two hour drive into the heart of the mountains. Unlike all other photo trips you’ll find to the Dolomites, we stay high up in Alpine refuges which gives us the perfect base to be in the best places at sunrise and sunset without having a long hike in the dark. Access to these is via a combination of private mini buses, gondolas, and moderate hiking.
Between refuges, we will also explore the area by road - stopping along the way for photo opportunities and great Italian food and drink.
In the evenings we will hold informal post production and critique sessions for anyone interested.
After five days of fresh mountain air and exercise, we’ll head back to Venice for our last night of the trip. This will offer yet more opportunities to get great shots of the most photogenic city in the world.
As with all our trips, we will have two guides to ensure everyone gets both group and one-to-one tuition time if required.
