Charms of China

ur trips to China offer an experience which simply cannot be achieved without local knowledge and local translators. This holiday is all about seeing the authentic side of China, and being shown how best to document everything you witness in stunning photography. See Beijing, The Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, The Great Wall, Guillin, Hong Kong and everything in between!

Our meeting point for this trip is Beijing, where you will be picked up at the airport and driven to a city centre luxury hotel which will be our base for the first couple of nights. As you acclimatise to a new culture and new time zone, we will take things easy by visiting the must-see sights of this amazing city. The Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, Hutongs, and of course a traditional Peking duck restaurant are all on the itinerary. We then drive to an area of the Great Wall which is not open to the general public. This offers the best potential for great photos, as there will be few other people around, and this section of the Wall is unrestored, so looks rustic and authentic. We will stay in the company of a farming family who will cook for us, and their base is perfectly situated to allow us easy walking access to be on the Wall for sunrise and sunset.

After three nights at the Great Wall, we head back to Beijing and board an overnight sleeper train into the very heart of China. We arrive at the city of Guillin the following morning, where breathtaking towering karst limestone mountains dominate the landscape. To get away from the crowds we will be staying in a small village on the banks of the Lijiang River, where photo opportunites abound, and we can spend lazy afternoons floating down the river on bamboo rafts and cycling around the surrounding countryside as we admire the passing scenery and meet the local people.

Our penultimate day sees us board a high speed train to the capital of the south, Guangzhou. Here we will eat dim sum in one of the most famous restaurants for Cantonese food, before boarding another express train to Hong Kong. Our final night will be spent having a quick tour around Asia's most vibrant city, with accommodation in a city centre 4-star hotel for the final night of the trip.

As with all our trips, we will have two professional photography guides to ensure everyone gets both group and one-to-one tuition time if required. We also have a full time translator with us.

This really is a once in a lifetime opportunity to have a unique and authentic travel experience which will stay with you forever.
